Tshwane Gospel Choir will have their debut performance in Botswana during the event

A night of prayer, fun and spiritual divine beckons for gospel music enthusiasts and followers during this annual gospel music concert is to be held on August 30 at AFM Block 7 Hall in Gaborone. Blissful Night of Worship Project Lead, Pako Lekoko, said the mission is to create a vibrant atmosphere, which showcases musical excellence and allows the community to fellowship through a night of powerful Christian worship. She explained that funds to be raised through the show will be put towards financing the construction of the AFM Tlokweng church auditorium, a building that will be more than just a place of fellowship for AFM members on Sundays.

She further said the facility will be a sanctuary that serves the community in various ways through its facilities, which include a nursing room, studio room and offices. “This year we have a great line-up with a mix of local and international artists and groups including Tshwane Gospel Choir, Mpumi Mtsweni, Sesame, Tlotlo Maxson, Tlokweng Assembly of God (BGS), Spirit of True Worship, AFM Tlokweng Praise and Worship team as well as the AFM Tlokweng Mass Choir. Most of our acts for the night are made up of youth. We are on a mission to use this initiative to empower the young people of our nation to utilise and showcase their skills and talents through participation in this show,” Lekoko said.

She stated that the event is more than just about coming together to have a good time and raise funds for the church but making a change in the community. 'We are heavily invested in impacting and adding value to our community, and the group we chose to focus on this year is the youth of our nation. Even the team organising the show is led by a young person. Our show is aligned to Botswana Vision 2036 Pillar 3, Human and Social Development, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions),” she added. Lekoko promised fans of Tshwane Gospel Choir to expect the musical vigour and power of the choir as they know it. The group is popular for its slick, soul-stirring blend of indigenous South African styles and contemporary gospel.

“Quite recently they have been introducing and profiling their members, so we can expect to see some fresh faces and experience fresh voices. Most importantly, fans can expect that the choir will be here on the 30th of August. Some fans have expressed concerns about previous shows that featured the choir not taking place. We would like to assure the public that, as a church, we uphold the highest levels of integrity and are determined to see the show through and indeed confirm that Tshwane Gospel Choir is coming to Botswana,” she said. Lekoko said much as the show is organised by the church, it will not be a church service but a music festival. Alcohol will not be allowed at the event.
