Trio braces for testing 400m semi-finals

Collen Kebinatshipi competes in the first semi-final where he faces tough competition from Quincy Hall (United States of America), Alexander Doom (Belgium) and Jereem Richards (Trinidad and Tobago). Kebinatshipi booked himself a slot in the semi-finals after a brilliant performance, registering a new personal best (PB) of 44.45. The second semi-final will see Bayapo Ndori take on Muzala Samukonga (Zambia), Chris Bailey of the United States of America and the legendary one lap runner, Kirani James of Grenada. Ndori proceeded to the semi-final to continue his war with Samukonga, after the two met during the heat, where they registered 44.87 and 44.56 respectively. Leungo Scotch has a mountain to climb when he attempts to qualify for the final against American, Michael Norman and Great Britain runner, Matthew Hudson-Smith. Scotch progressed to the semi-final as a non-automatic qualifier after clocking 45.33 in the repechage round. Norman and Hudson-Smith are the favourites to win heat three after their performances during the earlier round. The 400m final is set for tomorrow night. Meanwhile, 400m hurdles runner, Victor Ntweng is in the repechage round at midday as he attempts to make it to the semi-finals.
