Fireworks are expected when Letsile Tebogo clashes with 100m Olympic champion, Noah Lyles in the men’s 200m semi-finals tonight.

The two stars are in heat two and will be in action at 8pm. Tebogo will be in lane eight while Lyles is seeded in lane six. The first two in each heat and the next two fastest, advance to the final. Other local athletes, Tshepiso Masalela, Tumo Nkape, and Kethobogile Haingura will make their Olympics debut in the 800m this morning at 11:55am. Haingura and Masalela are favourites to proceed to the second round considering their performance this season. Meanwhile, national team coach, Chilume Ntshwarang told Mmegi Online that there are mixed feelings in the camp over the 4x400m relay team members failed to make it to the finals. “We wanted them to be in the final, but at the same time it gives us enough time to recover for the 4x400m heat,” he said. Regarding Tebogo's inclusion in the relay team, Ntshwarang said the decision would be taken after the 200m final. “We can talk on that when he comes out healthy,” he added.
