The Peleng giants are talking their time in assessing any potential new players coming on board ahead of the new season. The club’s spokesperson, Isaac Mmualefe, has said although the transfer window is open, they have not started signing new players. He explained that preparations for the upcoming season are currently ongoing but explained that they will not rush into signing new players. He stated that they currently have players on trials and the technical team, led by Stanley Mwaanga is still assessing them. “Last season we rushed into signing players and the move did not help us in any way.

This time we are taking our time so that even if we are to play in the First Division, we would have signed players that can help us gain promotion. This time around we even started our pre-season early,” he said. Gunners are expected to play in the Botswana Premier League (BPL) next season after buying Jwaneng Young Stars’ status. Although Mmualefe said they have not received any communication at the time of going to press, reports are that the Botswana Football Association (BFA) national executive committee (NEC) last week approved the deal. The NEC met to discuss and assess among other things, the Gunners/Young Stars’ as well as the Mochudi Centre Chiefs/Masitaoka deals. “We are still waiting for feedback from the BFA.

At the moment, we have not received any communication to that effect,” Mmualefe said. The BFA chief executive officer (CEO), Mfolo Mfolo, on the other hand said the association will release a statement today (Tuesday). Both Gunners and Young Stars long reached an agreement, which was rubber-stamped by their respective Regional Football Associations. The only remaining thing was the mother body’s approval. Young Stars will return to the Debswana First Division South League to take up Gunners’ spot.
