Executives at the state-owned entity recently revealed that plans were underway to expand operations into different local villages and towns. The move is aimed at increasing service offerings as well as scouting for more opportunities in some neighbouring countries. “BotswanaPost is targeting expansion into underserved rural areas within Botswana and exploring opportunities in neighbouring countries. By combining our digital transformation efforts with strategic physical expansions, BotswanaPost is well-positioned to enhance service delivery. “This expansion aims to promote inclusivity and support economic development in these regions, ensuring that all citizens have access to essential postal and financial services,” the executives revealed.

According to the BotswanaPost CEO, Cornelius Ramatlhakwane, the parastatal is eyeing the use of digital platforms as a silver bullet that will help the enterprise diversify its offerings and value proposition. Additionally he said digitisation of most of the Poso services will allow greater inclusivity and wide reach of services to its clientele. “Our digital platforms and initiatives, such as DigiPost, PosoMoney, and Posa’it, are central to this expansion strategy. These digital tools enable us to offer seamless online access to our services, making it easier for customers in remote areas to engage with BotswanaPost without needing to visit physical locations,” he said.

BotswanaPost launched its mobile app, Posa’it this year allowing independent individuals and small, micro, and medium enterprises (SMMEs) to resell postal services. “Posa’it, our all-in-one super app, offers a unified interface for various services, enhancing convenience and user experience. “By leveraging these digital initiatives, we can efficiently expand our footprint into new regions and markets, providing high-quality services and fostering economic growth,” the executives revealed. There are plans to further expand physical presence by opening new post offices, kiosks and Poso malls. These physical expansions will not only increase accessibility but also provide opportunities for other local businesses to open up shops within our Poso Malls. BotswanaPost is a public owned postal operator in Botswana known for its financial, logistics, postal, communications and agency services.
