It has always been earmarked that Sunday soccer can pull off a big crowd but that remains questionable as a small crowd turned up at the National Stadium over the weekend. However, despite low turnout at the first ever tournament by Black Label, the show still went on where a final was played. The tourney started as early at 8am in the morning where a total of eight teams had to battle for a place in the final and stand a great chance of scooping the P75, 000 cash prize for first place. Siwelele Social Club and Skontere Social Club earned themselves a place in the final. Played under the chilling weather, Siwelele clinched the coveted P75, 000 prize money as Skontere, boasting of retired players like Betsho Pius settled for second position. Siwelele won by 1-0 scoreline. Brimming with elation, Siwelele coach, Patrick Mogomotsi, stated that he is happy with how everything turned out despite the low turnout.

He stated that there is always room for improvement going forward from the organisers and the teams. “We started very well, and I believe the tournament went well despite everything although they can do better. The organisers can do better next time as there were lot of delays coming to the final. Otherwise everything went really good and we are proud to walk away with first position,” he said. Skontere head coach, Goabaone Gochele, shared the same sentiments that heading into the second edition, there are few areas that can be improved especially with officiating as he bemoaned the level of officiating. Siwelele Social Club were not the only winners on the day as two lucky fans won the two white polo Vivos, courtesy of Carling Black Label Botswana.
