Born and designed in Gaborone, Nako Timepieces has historical significance and has over the years gained recognition beyond local borders. It merges innovation and luxury watchmaking, which is proudly rooted in Africa. The brand Nako bears Botswana’s heritage on a wrist and is founded on the belief that state-of-the-art watch-making innovation can be synonymous with Botswana's cultural and historical significance where time bridges the old and new. In an interview with Nako Timepieces founder, Gabriel Mothibedi, he explained that as a luxury watch designer brand, they envision establishing partnerships with other industry leaders, such as Delmas Jewels. “The aim is to establish a synergistic relationship between the two luxury brands, of similar customer base. This partnership will strengthen and extend the market presence of both brands, and it will serve as a gateway to other cross-company partnerships and functions, with added value to both Nako Timepieces and Delmas Jewels,” he confidently said Mothibedi further explained that Delmas Jewels will be providing merchant services for Nako Timepieces’ products. This includes wristwatches, wall, table and desk clocks, sport and smartwatches, and other fashion and lifestyle products and accessories such as cuff links, Lapel pins, bracelets, tie clips and others.

He added that Delmas Jewels will also offer product drop-offs and pick-ups, for Nako Timepieces World Service Lab and After-care Services. Furthermore, he pointed out that their objective was to merge Botswana’s heritage with modern horology, fashion and lifestyle adding that their priority remained in making their products readily available and accessible. He added that a retail partnership with Delmas Jewels was in fulfillment of their vision and mission. Moreover, Mothibedi explained that as they counted their blessings, the founder and chairman of Brand Leadership Group, a Hall of Fame global African branding authority and the leading advocate for a brand-led African renaissance, Dr Thebe Ikalafeng, shared the same passion for Botswana as their brand. He said Ikalafeng spoke highly of Batswana including their national virtues of Botshabelo (refuge), Bogaka (heroism), Boitshoko (endurance), Maikarabelo (global responsibility), Boipuso (independence), and their rich cultural heritage; a true nako moment that highlights the global appreciation of Botswana.

“It was a pleasure to present Dr Ikalafeng with his own Nako Timepieces Three Dikgosi Edition Rattan inspired by the pattern-rich and meticulous craftsmanship of Botswana basketry, and to share a significant part of our heritage with him. For us, the journey of building Nako Timepieces has been a work of art, a labour of passion and perseverance, and we would not only like to promote Botswana’s culture through storytelling. Our mission is to build capacity into Botswana’s innovative, ingenious and creative potential by enhancing the quality parameters of her products and services as well as promoting authentic product design inspired by the country’s rich cultural heritage and indigenous knowledge,” he said.
