The event, organised in collaboration with Sandfire Resources, aims to promote gender diversity, inclusion, and equality within the mining industry, while also fostering economic development and strategic partnerships to empower women in Botswana.

Officials said under the theme 'Rising Together, to Become Stronger Together: Elevating Women Through Strategic Up-skilling and Collaborations', the conference will spotlight the significance of women supporting one another in the male-dominated mining industry.

It will serve as a platform for women to network, share their experiences, and discuss both challenges and opportunities in the field, the officials said.

One of the event organisers, Malebogo Marumoagae-Monare, said the conference will attract women from various levels of the mining sector, from junior to senior positions adding that it will feature a lineup of prominent speakers from key players in Botswana’s mining industry, such as Debswana, Khoemacau, and Sandfire.

In addition to inspiring discussions, the event will culminate with an awards night recognising outstanding women in the industry.

'We are excited to host this conference, which will bring together women from across the local mining industry and broader SADC region,' she said.
