Rakgare was speaking at a meet and greet session with the newly elected BFA president, Tariq Babitseng, at the Ministry headquarters on Monday afternoon. The two sport leaders met on Monday as Rakgare officially welcomed the new BFA boss to the local sporting scene. However, the pair did not reveal to the members of the press the content of their meeting.

Rakgare, however, when fielding questions from the journalists said a financial report would be conducted at the Lekidi Football Centre. He also said it has been in discussion between the ministry and Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC) to have a track record of how finances are being allocated across national sport associations. 'The BNSC and PS (Ministry's Permanent Secretary) have been in discussions and we should see if things are done in a proper manner. This is not about the individuals or the moment but we should occasionally be up to date on how things are done in a proper manner because every now and then we should submit a report to the relevant offices. This is just to enable us to know how the finances are being used,' said Rakgare.

For his part, Babitseng added that a financial report is among the first action plans in his reign and lauded the minister for availing resources to the BFA. 'We want to start on a clean slate. The financial report is part of the clean slate that we have been talking about and it needs the resources, since the minister has already pledged, who I am? We will continue to do it because it is part of the clean up,' said Babitseng. The newly elected president further announced the postponement of the start of the 2024-2025 FNB Premiership. 'I said in our national general assembly that we are going to give our Premier League the autonomy they deserve and that is going to happen. From here we are going to the CEO of FNB just to enlighten him that we were meant to start the league this coming weekend and it is not going to happen because we need to do things right as per the constitution,' said Babitseng.

The Botswana Football League (BFL) was to hold its general assembly on September 7 but was postponed at the 11th hour. SportMonitor is informed that the new season will begin after the BFL assembly has been held.
