Church fights Sebogodi’s mysterious fires

It was a euphoric moment that was greeted with prayer madness as the praise and worship team started by belting a praise song that sent the church into high spirits of worship ahead of the Prophet’s big task. The intense prayers and singing went on whilst the work of God was in progress. I only found myself at the right place and the right time (at the church) to witness the ‘power of God’ on display as the ‘devil’ was apparently in trouble for the afflictions of the young girl. I was visiting the church for the very first time and I was suddenly gripped by fear that the fire could stray onto us as we learnt the mysterious fires never lost a battle easily. The Good Samaritan, Tshepo Sethibe, of the Moeladilotlhoko News Boiler fame, had volunteered to lead the family members to the church as their last place of hope. He worried that they had tried everything else under the sun and nothing seemed to be working in ending the mysterious fires that haunted the young girl, Kaone Sebogodi of Ledumang location in Gaborone. It was Sethibe’s prayers that the family could find eternal peace after a tumultuous time of having to endure the destructive inferno.
For the past five years, Sebogodi’s life was characterised by pain and suffering as the mysterious inferno followed her and gutted everything around her. Just as Sethibe had aptly captured it, “everything that the poor girl touched was consumed by fire”. The fire did not only embarrass the young girl but instilled incessant fear in her, leaving her literally hopeless. Her clothes, dwelling house and anyone associated with her almost suffered the same fate. On behalf of the family that included Sebogodi’s father of Malawian origin, but residing in South Africa and some volunteer family members, Sethibe oozed confidence that after trying everything else, their hope lay with the God of Prophet Isaiah and that they wouldn't be disappointed. “We have had promises abandoned by those who had committed to assist our girl. They raised various reasons and most importantly that the fires might follow them up as well after assisting. Our hope lies with the church now,” Sethibe pleaded with the church. He was openly hopeful that after traversing the length and breadth of the country for help, their ‘breakthrough’ had finally come.
He indicated that he was only touched by the story of the poor girl and that he committed himself to rescuing her from the situation she found herself in. There was wild excitement from the congregation when Sebogodi was finally introduced during a prayer session. She would later become the cynosure of all eyes as people remembered her story of struggle from social media against the mysterious fire that followed her for the past five years. Lo and behold, the Prophet chose to speak less and moved into the action of delivering the troubled girl. The scene was more like a game of wrestling as the poor girl was floored every time the Prophet lifted his hand and shouted, “Out!” It was an intense spiritual battle whose victory was not easily declared as the Prophet would later declare that they would work on the girl and allow God to do His bit at the right time whereupon the church would allow her to go once they are satisfied the work of God was completed. There was complete silence in the church when the Prophet of the house mentioned: “There is something that happened some years back that needs to be exposed. There is a secret that happened (from the parents) which is the root cause of the fires that need to be exposed once and for all.”
The man of God left the church in suspense, as he could not go into deep details of what transpired reserving that for the family. He would, however, later pledge to “accommodate” Sebogodi and continue with the process of her deliverance until God had perfected it. Sethibe and Sebogodi’s father and the voluntary family members were convinced they had found relief at last. Sethibe was further hailed for his spirit of volunteerism in pursuing issues affecting people, as finally some easily find closure on some of the social issues bedevilling the society.
