With his distinctive blend of infectious rhythms and captivating melodies, DJ Dagizus continues to solidify his position as a leading figure in the global music scene. In an interview with Art&Culture, he said exceptional record combined the lively rhythms of Afrobeat and the infectious beats of Amapiano, highlighting the remarkable talents of Botswana vocalist, KayBusi. He said KayBusi also lent her vocals to his previous release, Mama. Renowned as one of the finest vocalists, DJ Dagizus explained that KayBusi was celebrated for her exceptional voice, effortless style, and remarkable lyricism. “Malome serves as a follow-up to my wedding EP titled A Good Thang, which includes tracks such as Indlela, Una Maana, A Good Thang and Usi’ Sthandwa Sam’.”

The song Malome narrates the story of a young woman who appeals to her uncle to provide the necessary cattle for her marriage, inspired by the weddings of her friends. This request stems from the traditional practice of a man paying lobola or bride price,” said DJ Dagizus. “The song vividly portrays the young woman’s yearning for her uncle’s assistance in initiating the marriage process through the acquisition of cattle. The recording DJ Dagizus usually covers the recording costs for featured artists to record at studios in their locations. The song Malome was recorded at the same time as Mama, the previous release by Pro-Lanez, who is based in Botswana. The Dallas-based producer then allowed Pro-Lanez to pre-mix the song. After that, the song was sent back to DJ Dagizus in America for full mixing and mastering,” he explained.

Furthermore, he pointed out that just like Mama, the beat used for Malome was also produced by Dagee Records affiliate Bomber Beats, which is also based in Botswana. He added that the song was originally scheduled to be released on his birthday, September 18, 2024. However, due to the unfortunate circumstance of his grandmother’s passing, he said he had to travel to Botswana for her funeral. Therefore, he and his team decided to release the song on Botswana Independence Day on all digital platforms.
