The Zebras put a fading campaign back on track with a stunning 1-0 win over Cape Verde last Thursday. This meant Botswana levelled with Cape Verde and Mauritania on three points, blowing the qualification race wide open. Ahead of the do-or-die encounter, the BFA last night announced cash incentives to motivate the players to beat the tricky Islanders. BFA president, Tariq Babitseng got the ball rolling with a P5,000 donation for each player, while Nicholas Zakhem of ZAC Construction and Ramachandaran Ottapathu of Choppies Botswana both weighed in with P10,000 to be given to each player.
The Zebras who have endured tough moments off-the-field in recent months, will now feel motivated to go all out and grab maximum points. However, Cape Verde still poses a potent threat and the Zebras would have to be aware of the danger. Zebras are ranked 147 whilst Cape Verde are number 65. Coach, Didier da Rosa Gomes is without midfielder, Gape Mohutsiwa who will sit out tonight's game due to the accumulation of yellow cards.
