The nomination comes after Tebogo made history by winning Botswana and Africa's first ever gold medal in the 200m race. It was Botswana's third Olympic medal in the history of the competition. Tebogo is currently ranked the number one 200m male athlete this year. He is favoured to pocket the gong, will battle it out against Rai Benjamin (USA), Grant Holloway (USA), Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway), Noah Lyles (USA) and Emmanuel Wanyonyi (Kenya).
