In a market update, directors said the key substation was due to be completed by the end of the year, marking a significant step towards evacuating power into the national grid. Lesedi is Tlou’s most advanced project, with the project targeting the first power generation in mid-2025.

Officials said Lesedi remains at the forefront of Botswana’s gas-to-power sector, making substantial progress in the development of the proposed 10MW gas-to-power project. Tlou signed a power purchase agreement for the 10MW with the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) three years ago, as a pilot to testing, then boosting gas to electricity flows from the company’s wells.

Officials said the power station is anticipated to be installed, commissioned, and tested ready for approval by BPC ahead of the first generation in 2025.
