The incident occurred after midnight when the victim was walking home alone from a local shebeen. Serowe Police Station commander, Superintendent Poloko Oteng said they have launched a probe to establish what really transpired.

'We are investigating an unlawful wounding case and currently the suspect in this matter is still at large because we don't know who stabbed the victim and why. The victim is recovering and we are yet to interview him because we couldn't do it when the matter was fresh as he was seriously injured and couldn't speak. The victim was found lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds by a passerby who reported the matter to the police and was rushed to the hospital,' he said.

Oteng said currently they don't know if the duo was fighting or what really happened. However, he pleaded with young men who are usually the perpetrators in these kinds of offences to avoid carrying offensive weapons because they tend to use them when they are involved in a misunderstanding.

'We are worried that people no longer want to discuss issues verbally, they are always ready to fight and stab each other. I'm pleading with members of the public to avoid using violence to solve their differences because we continue to lose lives due to street fights,' Oteng pleads.
