Chiefs, TAFIC in top two showdown

The stage has been set as the two teams have been exchanging banter on social media platforms and will look to transfer that momentum to the pitch in a scheduled 8pm kick-off. Magosi lead the pack with 16 points, just a point ahead of Matjimenyenga heading into tomorrow evening's showdown. Chiefs are on a mission to become only the second team to clinch the league championship coming straight from the First Division. Township Rollers were the first team to achieve the feat 20 years ago. Magosi are off to a blistering start, as they remain one of the three teams yet to taste a defeat this season. It might be too early into the season with action hitting the first quarter mark this week. However, with only six games played, Chiefs are showing all the traits of potential champions.

The 22-year-old Lwamba is proving to be the best acquisition of the current campaign among the 16 teams. Despite leading the Golden Boot charts with six goals, the Congolese forward is proving to be more of a goal poacher as he has laid three assists thus making it nine goal contributions in just six games. He is amongst the TAFIC squad that has lost once this season and won on five occasions thus far. TAFIC is second in the scoring column with 13 goals but would be worried that Lwamba has contributed nine, thus raising worries that they could be over-relying on a single source to find the net.
Matjimenyenga, like Chiefs, have ambitions of their own as they eye to be the first club from the north of Dibete to claim the league championship after ECCO City Greens more than a decade ago. A win over Chiefs will elevate TAFIC to the summit of the log. In other games this evening, Security Systems and Gaborone United meet at the National Stadium at 7pm. Tomorrow, struggling Morupule Wanderers welcome Matebele FC at the Palapye Stadium whilst Nico United visit Extension Gunners at the Lobatse Sports Complex. VTM FC and bottom-placed Flamengo Santos meet at the VTM Arena whilst Township Rollers visit Sua Flamingoes at the Sowa Town Council Stadium.
On Sunday afternoon, BDF XI welcome Chadibe FC at the Lobatse Sports Complex. Champions, Jwaneng Galaxy have the weekend off due to Orapa United's CAF Confederations Cup commitments. The two teams will meet at the Itekeng Stadium on Wednesday evening.
