Chiefs issue hands-off warning to 'vultures'

In a statement this morning, Magosi said despite the unfolding situation at the club, with the exception of players on loan, the rest of the squad members remain contracted to the club. 'All those associated with claims of owning certain players and attempting to transfer them have been formally reported to BFA (Botswana Football Association) and BFL (Botswana Football League) for further action. All players are contracted to Mochudi Centre Chiefs,' the statement reads. Magosi further said the club has opened negotiations with Township Rollers and Jwaneng Galaxy over five 'on-loan' players. Chiefs had the duo of Kabelo Maphakela and Ototeng Dintwa on loan from Rollers for a season.
In addition, Magosi also had Ryan Brown, Thatayaone Ramatlapeng, and Chico Molefe who joined on a year loan from Galaxy. The two teams have since recalled their players upon the reports of unrest at Chiefs. Popa were quicker of the two as by Monday, Maphakela and Dintwa were spotted at the Royal Aria Training Grounds with Rollers. As per reports, Jimmy Haskins Kereng who served as the club president and main financier had an agreement with both Rollers and Galaxy to fully pay the salaries of the on-loan players. Kereng, however, quit Chiefs at the start of the year after six months with the club.
He had joined the Chiefs at the start of the 2024–2025 football season. Magosi also said training resumed yesterday (Tuesday) after a prolonged layoff since last Saturday's league game against Rollers.
