VACANCY: SENIOR PASTOR

Open Baptist Church (OBC) of Gaborone is committed to advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ in Botswana and beyond with the vision, “Together in Christ to the world.” The Church is calling for a full time Senior Pastor to serve for a contract period of Five (5) Years. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary hereinafter the Senior Pastor appointment is subject to approval by the Church in Conference (CIC) in line with OBC’s congregational system of governance as outlined in its constitution.

PURPOSE:

The Senior Pastor works closely with the Eldership in providing spiritual and pastoral leadership to the Church. He is responsible for setting the tone for the overall spiritual direction of the Church in line with its stated strategic vision

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

The applicant should have formal theological training with at least a 4 Year Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) Degree or an equivalent qualification, from a recognized and accredited theological institution.

Personal Attributes:

He must be:

An ordained minister

Conversant with Baptist doctrine

Baptised by immersion.

Regenerated, that is, having received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour, (based on Ephesians 2:8-9) and married to one wife.

Passionate about Missions, Discipleship, God-fearing and wholly devoted towards the Ministry

Able to provide biblically sound doctrine and offer teaching and learning experiences to the congregation

Beyond reproach

of sound reputation and moral character in the community

spiritually mature gentleman of not less than 40 years of age

Currently legally resident in Botswana.

Skill and Abilities:

Skilled in church management and with a demonstrable track record of good stewardship

Able to provide spiritual guidance to the Church›s social intervention programmes, youth-oriented programmes and discipleship programmes

Able to facilitate sound theological training and equipping the saints for the work of ministry

Conduct himself in a manner that is beyond reproach and worthy of the Faith

Good reputation within and outside the church and also in the wider community

Experience: a minimum of 10 years of experience in pastoral ministry. Pastoral experience in a large multicultural congregational setting is a key requirement.
