Air Botswana expands regional reach with Gaborone-Durban route

Since its inauguration in December, the route has recorded nearly 2,000 passengers as at the end of February, indicating strong demand.

According to Air Botswana’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Mogolo Mokgosi, the airline is pleased with the numbers, considering the challenges typically associated with launching a new route.

“These numbers show that the introduction of the route was necessary and has great potential. “Normally, it takes time for a new route to gain traction, but we are seeing promising results,” Mokgosi said.

The airline operates three direct flights to Durban per week on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On other days, passengers can conveniently connect to Durban via Air Botswana’s flights to Windhoek, Lusaka, and Harare.

To ensure the sustainability of this route, Air Botswana has partnered with Durban Tourism and the South African film industry, recognising Durban’s appeal as a popular tourist destination.

The introduction of new and reinstated routes, coupled with increased flight frequencies, is expected to enhance Air Botswana’s regional presence and connectivity, offering travellers more options and boosting tourism and trade between Botswana and neighbouring countries.
