BWF president, Moagi Sharp has come out with guns blazing over what he says is non-cooperation by BNSC on the grant. He told Mmegi Sport this week that the BNSC is making it difficult for the BWF to fulfill its mandate because of the sabotage.

He said BWF was given P200,000 by BNSC in March but up to date, the funds have not been released.

He said they are always submitting proposals to BNSC for funding in vain. Sharp said they have long pleaded with BNSC to release the funds because they want to purchase equipment such as training mats.

'We cannot grow as a code because our hands are tied due to lack of funds. We should be preparing for the up coming second African Youth Games but we cannot do that without proper training equipment,' said Sharp.

Wrestling is one of the codes that will have a team at the African Youth Games in Gaborone next year. Sharp said the African Wrestling Confederation vice president, Manie van Den Derg was in the country to inspect the venues that will be used for the games.

He accused some officers at the BNSC of harbouring anti-BWF sentiments.

He said he has written a letter to the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) about the behaviour of the BNSC. He is still waiting for a response from FILA.

In response to Sharps' accusations, BNSC acting chief executive officer, Thato Kgosimore told Mmegi Sport that BWF is aware of the procedure used by the BNSC to release funds and which channels to use when there are complaints. Otherwise, he declined to give more details saying that he cannot discuss affiliates with the media.
