Golf quartet set for Swaziland tourney

Botswana Golf Union (BGU) secretary general Mpho Kelosiwang told Mmegi Sport that the team will hope to improve its fifth position finish from the Benoni Championships.
A the same event one of Botswana players, Stuart Smith bagged a silver medal after being tied in second position in the individual event.
Kelosiwang said the team will leave on Friday next week and they are expected back home on October 24th.
'The golfers are expected to play in the Swaziland Open on October 19 and 20 as preparation for Amateur Championship, which will be played on October 21 to 23 over 72 holes,' said Kelosiwang.
He explained that the event is in two parts, a team event and an individual event.
There are four players in the team, where every round, the best three scores will be added up to make the team total whilst for the individual event, every scores counts.
Kelosiwang said the team will be made up of four players, three of which are selected based on the order of merit and one as a wild card.
He explained that Leroy Pearmain, David Masole and Kesentseng Dube were selected on the basis of being the top four in the Botswana amateur golf rankings, while Nabeel Desai was selected on the wild card basis.
He said that of the three Batswana golfers, who are based in South Africa attending golf schools, Desai had the lowest scoring average over the last eight months.
