Thabang's second album is finally out

The new release demonstrates the 34-year-old musician's growth and maturity as he has been able to combine different sounds to come up with a soulful yet hippy album that can appeal to different age groups.

The title track Moratiwa Nkamogele is a pure traditional jazz tune with tickling lead guitar by Coaster Sephekolo synthetically combined with well-arranged keyboard and rugged bass drums.

The voice of the gifted vocalist, composer and producer is reminiscent of those great sounds in Sankomota's songs.  Track number five, Ikatle O Gole has a party mood.  It is a mixture of kwasa-kwasa, afro-pop and jazz melodies.

Garogwe's followers might have waited a long time for a follow-up to Keagana but the new release certainly proves it was not in vain. He recently told Showbiz that his decision to delay the new release was to avoid disrupting the sales of the first album.

He believed in spending more time on producing music to ensure he would deliver the expected quality to his fans.  Garogwe has shared the stage with musical greats such as the late Nana Coyote when the South African toured Botswana in 2007.  He has performed alongside, Alick Macheso and Oliver Mtukudzi at the Harare International Convention Centre.

While he was trying to establish himself as a jazz musician of note, the man from Digawana in the Southern District was mired in controversy when a former girlfriend claimed he tried to force her to abort in 2011, a charge he vehemently denied.

He has since overcome the dark era to concentrate on making music.
