Thapong hosts fashion night

This proved to be true as some of the most talented fashion designers in the country of different calibers came together to showcase their masterpieces to the public on Saturday at Thapong Visual Arts Centre in Gaborone.

For those who have swagger this was one of their best moments as they came to witness the creativity behind the fashion makers as every designer brought their masterpieces ensuring their customers go back home satisfied.

There were stalls that displayed clothes from different designs and fabrics including the beautiful German print clothes varying from skirts, dresses to pants.  There were also stalls that sold bracelets, earrings and headbands.  Even though many stalls sold jewellery, each of them had different and unique design including of materials they made their jewellery.  Jaime Eddie was one of the stalls that displayed their beautiful handmade jewellery made from commonly found material like wires and leafs or fruits of different trees.

The beauty parlour, Fifi Fab that seemed to be the ladies' best friend brought by its owner Refilwe Dibeela provided the women folk with VIP treatment; manicures, pedicure, gel overlay, nail repairs, maintenance and nail sculptures. All the ladies who attended the fashion show could not resist the temptation but did their nails and got their hands massages.

The four talented designers who have been in the industry for sometime now Phomolo of Amber Leigh, Naiko Tlogelang, Febie Designers and Pabilicious displayed their masterpieces before the fashionistas who seemed more impressed with the outfits as the models paraded.  It was hard to point out which outfit to choose from the different designs shown on stage. 

In an interview with Showtime, one of the organisers Tlogelang said that they have decided to come up with the initiative where different people from different fashion and entertainment industry come together under the same roof to showcase.  She said that, that is when Model Meet Designer was born where the fashion house hosted various fashion trends of designs, accessories, and arts and crafts in one event where they invited the public to come witness, appreciate and support local talent.

'We want to be recognised as designers that is why we have formed this organisation where different designers across the country can come together under one roof to learn, exchange ideas and above all showcase their creativity,' Tlogelang said.

Sentence, Calvin and Kutlwano Nthibane known as DWIMG mesmerised the audience with their Hip Hop performances.  TNT dance crew also displayed their unique hip hop dance moves while multi-talented Phaatso treated the audience to poetry and melodious songs.  Maya Rose who is no stranger to the music industry also gave a beautiful performance.
