Murder Suspect Remanded

Kennedy Moris of Kgosing ward in Maun will appear again in a fortnight for a routine mention. He was not asked to plead to the single count of murder as the lower court does not have the jurisdiction. Earlier on, defence lawyer Kesegofetse Molosiwa attempted to apply for the alleged murderer to be quickly committed to the High Court.

Molosiwa said the defence wanted to apply for bail. Basupi said nothing stops the defence from applying for bail well before committal to the High Court.

Moris allegedly shot his lover, Larona Gaasite, 31 of Tonota, to death on October 7, 2013 in a domestic dispute. The incident allegedly occurred at Kutagomore Primary School.

Moris, a resident of Maun, allegedly drove all the way to the little known Kutagomore village where the deceased was a teacher at the school.

Upon his arrival, the deceased and the suspect allegedly engaged in a heated dispute after the former suggested ending their relationship.
