The two clash at the National Stadium on November 16. He said the proposal to bring the Soweto giants was presented to the BPL board and was approved by the majority of the 16 clubs.  He said the idea to bring the club here was not mainly for the match but to workshop the Premier League clubs on how to accelerate the commercialisation drive.

He was disappointed that those querying the decision do so through the media and not through the relevant structures.

Several Premier League clubs are reportedly shocked by the BPL decision to squeeze the friendly match in between the tight league schedule.

Some have been quoted in the media saying they had in the past asked for similar favours from the league but hit a brick wall. They said they had in the past requested for postponement of their matches but were rebuffed with the authorities citing a tight schedule.

However, Mamelodi said he was disappointed that they are accused of applying double standards when Kaizer Chiefs coming here is more than just a match.

He said Kaizer Chiefs’ visit would benefit not only Centre Chiefs, but also other Premier League clubs because they do not just come here for the match.  The Soweto giants will on the day of the match host a corporate breakfast meeting where all the 16 Premier League clubs will be represented.

The corporate world will be invited to the meeting where the South African club will look at the challenges faced by the local clubs.

They will also advise the local clubs on how to go about attracting investors as well as sensitising the corporate world in Botswana the benefits of investing in football.
