Northern Gateway City plot sales kick-off

In the first phase of the sale that commenced this week, nearly 200 of the 626 plots of 104.1 hectares have been snapped up. The plots in an area measuring 946.5 hectares are owned by Modern Ventures.
Promoters of Northern Gateway City say it will provide integrated, planned and serviced residential areas. It will have coordinated hierarchical commercial clusters, working areas in office and industrial parks, community services, recreational and sporting facilities, hotels and lodges.When completed, the Northern Gateway City is expected to house not less than 25,000 people. The provision of services is expected to cost over P1 billion for the whole land/project. Directors of Northern Gateway City said that the services for phase one are estimated to cost P150 million. The phase is expected to be complete in a year starting from next January.
Andrew Seeletso, one of the directors of the project stated that phase one plot sizes range from 500-1800m2. 'Currently in phase one, our plots are selling at P350 per square metre,' he said. He added that they have had an overwhelming response and in developing the neighbourhood, they have taken all the service providers on board so that they do not face any hiccups in future. 'From the onset, we have been engaging service providers like the Water Utilities, Botswana Power Corporation and other service providers,' he said. He stated that all the service providers have assured them of cooperation.
The promoters of the development said that Northern Gateway City is expected to facilitate employment and the empowerment of Batswana. Town planner, Antony Kibadu, who is involved in the project said that all documentation for the development are in place. Kibadu said that the development consists of 4,896 plots, 53 commercial spaces, 35 industrial spaces, 34 civic spaces, 31 housing estates and cluster housing plots and three mixed plots.
