No breakthrough in sebina/marobela serial killer case

Police confirmed last week Friday that they were yet to arrest the culprit.Three women were killed, one in Sebina and two in Marobela, by the alleged serial killer. Those killed in Marobela were an 85-year old woman and her daughter. The incidents happened between May and early July this year.

Although villagers are adamant that a single person is responsible for the deaths, because the killings were conducted in a similar pattern, police are yet to ascertain that.

In mid-July this year, the Minister of Defence, Justice and Security Ndelu Seretse was quoted by this publication saying that police were working tirelessly to arrest whoever was responsible.

'We are yet to get clues that can lead to the arrest of anyone involved in the killings,' Senior Superintendent Israel Tuelo confirmed on Friday.

'We are still investigating. We appeal to members of the public to assist us with useful information that can lead to the arrest of anyone involved in those killings,' he added.

In August this year, 34-year old Ndilini Ncube was arraigned before the Francistown Magistrate Court in connection with two arson offences.

Residents of Sebina and Marobela thronged the court believing that he might be the man responsible for the killings in their villages.

It later emerged that Ncube was not involved in the killings. In Francistown police are also yet to make any arrest in connection with the murder of Zambian Radiologist Mwangala Malisao, who at the time of her death was working at Nyangabwe Referral Hospital (NRH). She was killed on January 18 this year.

Malisao was allegedly killed by robbers at her residence in Area A location. The robbers allegedly made away with her valuables and her Toyota Runx car. The car was later found dumped at Donga location after police mounted an extensive search around the city.

Central Police Station Commander Superintendent Mojaboswa Mathitha said that police were yet to make a breakthrough in the case.

He also appealed to members of the public to assist the police arrest the suspects.

The police are offering P20,000 to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects in the Malisao case and the person/s who killed people around Sebina and Marobela villages.
