Annual Beach Party turns five

Although there is no beach in Botswana, the main idea for the event is to act the part and abide by the dress code, specifically dressing up in beach or swim wears.

The organiser of the event, Tumelo Lekolwane recently told Showbiz that this is a one of a kind themed event where people come to party like they are at a beach.

“Bikinis for ladies and relaxed clothing inclusive of vests, shorts and flip-flops for the guys,” he said.

Lekolwane further mentioned that there has been tremendous growth for this event as every year the number of attendants keeps increasing.

“To spice things up this year we have included entertainment like Zorb ball and foam slides that people can use to have more fun,” he said.

He added that this is the event that will go down in local entertainment history books.

The line up consists of mainly local artists and features only one international artist, he said, adding that: “Deciding to bring our local artists all under one roof was intentional as we want to celebrate our musicians’ achievements more so that it will be Christmas.

‘‘This will be our way of showing our constant support.”

Attendants will be treated to performances by the likes of Oneal, Kellz, T-izzy, Fiction, German D, Samantha Mogwe, Cupid, Ozzy, Root, Ricky Lamar, Chrispin and other local giants.

“The genre of the party is mostly hip pop, RnB, Dancehall and some house music. People should come as early as 10am because this is a whole day event.  The first set will play around that time,” he said.

The guest performance will be by none other than South African award-winning motswako artist Khuli Chana. The event also has a recorded theme song that has been playing to set the right mood for fans.

The song features a lot of local acts and is currently the hottest tune, which has also gained popularity in SA, Lekolwane mentioned.

The song has also been receiving massive airplay in 5fm radio station.  DJ Khuchi featuring Linxstor, Zuziwe, Scar and kingtux produced the track.  “We are also expecting a lot of people from SA as it seems the beach buzz has hit that country too and they are excited to come and celebrate with us,” he said.

The event will be held on December 7 and tickets are at P100 for regular and P500 for VIP.
