Seabelo's express has low accident rate

Chief executive officer of the company, Seabelo Tlhaselo, said: “I normally call my team to a meeting and we discuss the best ways of avoiding accidents.

“This helps them stay focus and understand what is required of them. The other thing is the monitoring devices in the buses that report to us the speed at which a particular bus is travelling,” he said.

Seabealo was updating the media on the swipe system that his company, in conjuction with First National Bank (FNB), is using to collect fares from passengers. The P1.2 million system has been in place for a year now.

He added that the Gaborone to Gantsi route is the new addition to the system.

“It is amazing how the public has come to accept and like the swipe system as in the first quarter we had 1,500 passengers who used the facility,” he said.He said this figure increased to 2,500 in the second quarter.

Seabealo Express has introduced a new Gaborone-Bulawayo route that Tlhaselo says will plug the gap Batswana have been experiencing.

“Many people have been complaining about buses that travel at night so this one will travel during the day. This assures passengers of their safety and we are seeing potential growth on this route,” he said. One bus will depart from Gaborone at 6am while the other will leave Bulawayo at 8am.
