TAYA to be held on Friday

The annual event has been growing by the year since its inception in 2004.It aims to recognise the visual works of artists in Botswana while providing a platform for networking and exchange of ideas.

 “The award is also meant to promote competitiveness and quality production of artworks in Botswana. It is also done to promote art as a viable career choice among participants who are mainly young people,” Thapong Visual Arts Centre Coordinator, Reginald Bakwena said.

TAYA over the years has attracted participants from Maun, Francistown and other parts of the country. 

 The 2012 TAYA attracted 143 entries and Tumelo Thuthuka emerged the winner while Abednico Sechaba scooped the award in 2011.

 The guest speaker at this year’s event will be the Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mokgweetsi Masisi.
