Fighters still to appoint head coach

Fighters’ chairperson, Bob Dintwe told Mmegi Sport that they are still looking for a qualified coach.

He said that they have tried to give Motlhalefi the job, but he has declined the offer. Dintwe said Motlhalefi is qualified to lead Fighters but maybe he feels that the responsibility is too much for him.

Fighters have ended the first round of the league in position six with 14 points after 11 games. Motlhalefi said the management of the club must find someone qualified to lead the team. He explained that for the side to move forward and achieve its target of promotion to the Premier League next season, the technical bench should be improved. He said the club must hire a coach, an assistant and a goalkeeper coach.

Meanwhile, Motlhalefi said he was impressed by the performance of the team in the first round. He said that at the moment the eight-point gap between Fighters and leaders Letlapeng is not much. He said the aim is to fight for a spot in the Premier League next season.  Motlhalefi said players and management of the club are all fired up for the task in the second round.

He said the side needs two quality good poachers because at the moment, two central defenders have been concerted into strikers. Currently, he uses Kago Kgopelo, the only remaining striker as a substitute. Motlhalefi said losing Bernard Simakwenzi and Thando Moreki had a negative impact on the team.

He said if the two strikers were available, Fighters could be a force to reckon with at the moment.

He said the team should beef up the goalkeeping department in the next round. Motlhalefi advised that there is need for the appointment of the coach to be fast tracked for the sake of progress.
