Speaking to Showbiz about the December 13 event, one of the organisers, Mpho Diale, said that they have decided to stage the event to prove that local artists are able to pull off an impressive event without featuring international acts.
“A lot of people believe that for an event to be a success it has to include an artist from either SA or any other neighbouring country. So we are going to show people that local artists have what it takes to please the crowd. This will also help artists in marketing themselves,” he said.
Diale further mentioned that they have also realised that a lot of the local talent needs to be showcased. He said in the line up of the event, they have included some unknown acts and established ones to enable different artists to learn from each other and hopefully identify opportunities to collaborate in the future. The event will be held at Game City Rooftop Terrance. “People normally go to their villages around the 20th so we thought this will be the perfect time to entertain them as a way of preparing them for the festive,” he said. Part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to a charity organisation named Open-heart that deals with helping underprivileged people.
“Not only is the event about partying and having fun, but we are also going to contribute to social responsibilities of improving people’s lives,” he said.
Artists expected to thrill fans are Khuchi J, Dee Jay Lady-K, Ricky Lamar, and hit group Team Distant, the legendary Easy B, Chrispin the drummer and hip pop singer and DJ Izzy.
On the decks the crowd will be treated to the sounds of DJ KSB, Strightly House Bound, Mr Ale Houseplank, DJ Timber, DJ Element, Soul Beats and DJ Osvilla. Diale further explained that there will also be pool tables to play snooker.
“The Voice Babes models will also be there and we will also have a volleyball challenge for people to play and have fun. The idea is to socialise as we head for Christmas,” he said.
The show is expected to kickstart at 7pm. Tickets are sold at P100 and it admits two.
