Tempers high as Serowe North East goes for re-run

Just a day before another take at Bulela Ditswe, tempers are very high, as supporters of the original winner, Kgotla Autlwetse are alleging a new set of names on the voters roll and membership cards. They already smell a rat, believing that their man is being set for a loss.

But Minister of Justice, Defence and Security Ramadeluka Seretse’s supporters seem ready and are happy to go for another run. Last week, the electoral board chairman Parks Tafa wrote to Serowe North candidates informing them that they had realised that 884 people who cast their vote in the nullified primary elections, were public servants. Though Tafa said they are going to use the old voters roll, already some council candidates are complaining that some of their supporters names are not on the voters roll.

On Tuesday, election agents from Tsholetsa House started distributing membership cards. Now Autlwetse says in addition to their members having been deleted from the list, new names are appearing on the list. Moreover, Autlwetse’s campaign manager Molemi Leinane said they are still comparing the voters’ roll with the old one and if it does not match completely then they will lodge a complaint with the election board.
