Prisons wallop Peril

Oteng, a defender, netted Prisons' first goal in the 18th minute from a cross by Tebogo Garogwe who dribbled his way into Peril's defence of Kerileng Otlhomile, Amuchilani Mbotha and Carlos Leunkeu.

The goal elevated the spirits of Prisons XI's die-hard supporters who thronged the game. Peril's goalkeeper Kabelo Ntswaneng denied Prisons numerous scoring opportunities, forcing the game to recess with Prisons leading 1-0.

The second half saw both teams coming with gun blazing. Peril nearly leveled matters through Modise Sifo who released a powerful shot but was unlucky as Ntswaneng dived to parry it out for a corner.  Coach Markov Korlo's boys continued piling pressure on Prisons' defence but on-form goalkeeper, Obakeng Tutwane, proved equal to the task. Despite trailing by a goal, Peril continued dominating possession and utilised their wing to launch forays into Prisons territory.

They were however left to rue squandered chances. In the 55th minute of the game, Peril's backline was again exposed when Oteng beat two defenders before releasing a ball to unmarked winger Thuso Mosweu whose effort hit the goal pole back into play.

The defence failed to clear from the danger zone, and an unmarked unleashed a long thunderous ball that was too fast for Ntswaneng.

Prisons XI coach Bushy Basitang said he was happy that his side managed to close the year with a win.

He said that he believes that the feat would help motivate them when the second round of the league resumes next month. In another Debswana First Division South League clash, Modipane United hammered visiting Molepolole Masitoka FC 2-0 to wrap up the first round of the league.
