Scar told Showbiz that he decided to leave the station, as he wanted to focus fully on his music career.
“Juggling a prime time radio position and at the same time doing music has proven to be an impossible mission so one of them had to take a back burner. Back then my music career was suffering so I have now decided that I should focus on one thing which is music,” he said.
The award-winning hip pop artist further mentioned that he will release an album next year. Although fans got his last offering titled Open Bar back in 2010, fans are yet to see the other side of him that they have never seen before.
“I would like to think I have grown tremendously during the past years. I have been absent from the music industry and I guess it will show in my next album,” he said. Although he allegedly pointed out that he was done with music years back and after going public that he will never release an album again, the rapper is now working on his fifth album. Already the album, to be titled Redemption, is scheduled for release in April. Scar mentioned that he decided to return to the music-making industry, as there are now more people to compete with unlike before when there were only a few musicians in the field.
“Musicians have grown in large numbers and the industry is much more competitive. We have the likes of A.T.I, Samantha Mogwe and others who have emerged in the last three-year period I was absent and these artists mean business,” he said.
He added that he decided to name his album Redemption as he is regaining his career back.
“Redemption for me is moving forward and grabbing what belongs to me, I am back and I am going to make the most of it,” he said.
The album, which he said is halfway done, will have 15 tracks including the song that is currently ruling the airwaves Again. Scar mentioned that Again is a song about the life of rappers. “The song is basically about what we do as hip pop artists and all the challenges that come with the title. The album also features a lot of local artists and other international acts so people should be on the look out for a good CD,” he said.Scar’s single Metlholo, which was released in 2007, received three nominations at the Channel O Spirit of Africa Music Video Awards. Out of the three nominations one resulted in him scooping an award for best hip hop. This made him be the first Motswana to win such an award.
