Sikwa heads for the big time

Twenty-six-year-old Stanley Sikwa has even more reason to smile as his album is doing exceptionally well, even more so than he expected in terms of sales.

The single, which is a South African phrase-meaning Look At Me, now is not the only one that has people talking. The whole album blew many away when it was released a few months back. In an interview with Showbiz recently, hip pop artist Sikwa stated that the single simply means that people should now focus on him.   Also, Sikwa said that it is time people recognise his music as he is in this industry to make an impact and touch lives. The album, which has 12 tracks on it, is said to have sold more than one thousand copies this year and is in great demand. Sikwa added that his plans are to take the music industry by storm. “I want to leave a legacy and reach thousands of people through my music. I believe as a young artist it is my duty to help in changing lives,” he said. The album has a mixture of old school and new school sounds.   It features gifted artists who are a hit among young people such as Nello and other international acts. Sikwa mentioned that the fusion of two different music types was intentional as he is a fan of both.  “I wanted to fuse the two so that the results will result in classic sounds.  I wanted to also cater for all types of people from grown-ups to youngsters. I also personally enjoy old age songs and new songs, so I put on my creative hat and decided to bring them together in one album,” he said. He added that he is currently his own boss, as he is not signed to any recording label.  “I want to control my music and how it should appear to the public.

Being my own manager enables me to make decisions that I feel are best for my clientele without anybody’s disapproval,” he said.

The young man is also a hit on Facebook, as his page Stanley Stan FAN CLUB is currently sitting on more than 20,000 likes.

“I try to make myself relevant at all possible means. I always keep my fans posted on whatever I do and all the shows I am booked for so that they come and support me. I must add that I am grateful for all the support and love I have been getting,” he said.
