Sabure and Olebile win chess tournament

Olebile scored 7.5/9, Sabure managed 8/9 on a joint first with Women International Master Boikhutso Mudongo.

The two had the same scores and Sabure emerged the victor during a tiebreaker.  Mudongo came second with a score of eight and Kgalalelo Botlhole was on the third position with a score of 6.5. Onkemetse Francis ended her year in fourth position with a score of six.

Olebile managed to beat experienced players like International Grand Master Providence Oatlhotse and Barileng Gaealafshwe to walk away with the championship.  Selemogwe Lesego came second with seven points and Kamara Abdul finished in the third position with a score of 6.5. Boikanyo Cinky was on fourth with a score of 6.5.

Meanwhile, BCF also hosted The Blind Fold tournament at Yarona Country Lodge in Mogoditshane on Friday. The tournament was won by Oatlhotse who beat Olebile. 

Botswana Chess Federation (BCF) spokesperson Keenese Katisenge told Mmegi Sport that the tournament was closing down the curtain on the chess calendar of events.

Katisenge said the federation extended a wide invitation this year to attract strong chess players from around the world to come to Botswana for skills exchange.
