Rramonyaku, Slizer gear up for festal tour

Nine dates are scheduled from December 20 through December 28, with additional dates to be announced.

The musicians said that they were as surprised as anyone to be on the same bill. Slizer believed the development is healthy for the growth of music.

'I'm happy because it will be my first time to tour with Rramonyaku and the other guys.

In Zimbabwe artists work together quite a lot and having been exposed to that I want to bring it here as well,' Slizer told Mmegi.

The tour begins on Friday at Ramokgonami before going to Goo-Tau the following day.

The two, together with Magebhula and Scavenger, will invade Kalamara on December 22.  They will hit Ratholo the next day and Paje on Christmas Eve.

After missing out on last year's festive gigs, Slizer is elated that this time around she performs in Pilikwe before another gig on Boxing Day in Shoshong.

The last two shows will be held in Mookane and Makwate on the 27th and 28th respectively.

Rramonyaku, whose real names are Arnold Sekgee, believed they have picked a killer combination.

'It's a great combination looking at what we have both achieved. People know us quite a lot and I can assure them they will enjoy (the show),' he said.

He was convinced Magebhula and Scavenger also add other qualities to spice up performances during the tour.

'We realised people were following big names from South Africa, so we sat and discussed.

Clearly, no man is an island and the moment each one of us thinks they can do it alone that's where we fail,' he said.

His six-track DVD titled Letlotla La Ga Khama will be on sale at all venues as well as the other artists' music.

Letlotla La Ga Khama features tracks such as Re Batswana, Letlotla La Ga Khama, Kurubele, Selina, Eli La Masabata and the popular Ko Mokwena, which talks about all the places that makeup the Kweneng District such as Gakuto, Malwelwe and even Metsimotlhabe.

Ko Mokwena recently debuted on local radio stations and has been enjoying a lot of airplay.  The dance sequences in the track are predominantly Phathisi a style of traditional dancing synonymous with the Bakwena culture.

Rramonyaku said they will also sell t-shirts and other materials at the different venues at low prices.
