Zimbabwe giants, Dynamos to invade Botswana again

That is how they came out of the hat in the draw made in Morocco on Monday.

In 2010 Dynamos edged out Gaborone United 4-2 on aggregate in the third round of the same competition after using the home ground advantage to blast GU 4-1 in the first leg in Harare. They lost 1-0 to GU in Gaborone in the second leg.

Dynamos have the home ground turf again on February 8 against Chiefs.

The winner between the two teams will meet either AS Vita of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or Kano Pillars of Nigeria.  Chiefs will be taking part in the competition for the second successive season. They managed to reach the second round of the competition last season brushing aside Mozambiques’ Maxaquene before DRC giants TP Mazembe thrashed them 7-1 on aggregate.

Despite the humiliation at the hands of TP Mazembe, Chiefs managed to cash in on three of their players, Dirang Moloi, Phenyo Mongala and Jerome Ramatlhakwana, who joined another DRC side, Don Bosco.

Gaborone United, on the other hand, have been drawn against South African side SuperSport United in the Confederations Cup preliminary round.

Coach David Bright will be facing Mogogi Gabonamong, a player who made a name for himself under him when the two were still at Mogoditshane Fighters.
