Zim's Highlanders eyeing Sibanda

Information reaching Mmegi Sport is that the outfit coached by Kevin Kaindu, wrote to ECCO City Greens seeking permission to talk to the lanky attacking midfielder. In the letter, Mmegi Sport is reliably informed that Bosso, as Highlanders are affectionately known by its hordes of supporters, promised to buy the talented midfielder out of his running contract with ECCO. The contract runs until September 2014.

Highlanders FC chairman Peter Dube could not confirm or deny the development. But he noted that the club has cast its net wide to secure quality players ahead of the next season.

Dube stated that he is yet to be informed if any official communication has been sent to the club at which the player in question is currently attached to.

'I am not aware of a particular player currently plying his trade in Botswana that the club is chasing. But the door is wide open,' said Dube.

While not committing to a confirmation, ECCO secretary General Moses Jackson stated that, 'We are yet to receive a letter from Highlanders.'

If the Zimbabweans make an offer, Jackson said that ECCO would not stand in Sibanda’s way.

Highlanders are reportedly embarking on a major shake-up in order to end their seven-year league title drought. Due to high transfer fees charged by clubs in Zimbabwe, Highlanders turned to Zimbabwean players based in Botswana.

In the second round of last season, the team roped in the services of Botswana-based Tinashe Chipunza and Master Masitara.
