Vee to headline Goledzwa festival

Goledzwa, a Kalanga word for New Year, is an annual event aimed at showcasing the abundant Botswana musical talent.  For the first time Vee is expected to perform alongside his talented dancers.

'Vee is one of the top artists that Botswana can pride itself with.  Adding him to the Goledzwa festival line-up is sure to be a crowd-pleaser to both our followers and potential ones,' said Sidney Nzala, popularly known as DJ Boggie Sid who is the event organiser.

According to Nzala, Vee was taken on board as the organisers are aiming at making Goledzwa a memorable event.  Nzala was full of praises for the talented pintsized musician who hails from Hukuntsi in Ghanzi district.

“Vee is a phenomenal stage performer and a multi Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) awards winner.  He will be rocking the Goledzwa festival,” said Nzala.

Started in 2002, Goledzwa is the only event in Botswana that has abundant musical talent where only Batswana artists are featured and given the opportunity to showcase.  “Every December 31 in Francistown, we come together to celebrate in song and dance Botswana’s musical heritage.  We perform Botswana music.  If it’s hot and happening, whatever genre it is, chances are we will showcase it on the Goledzwa stage,” he said.

Besides Vee, Atlasaone ‘ATI’ Molemogi is expected to set the Francistown stadium ablaze with his theatrical dances on stage.  ATI of the Batho Bame fame has been incredible and entertaining while on stage.

La Timmy (Timothy Sabuta) of Nanzala Vuke will also perform at the event. With his velvety voice and thrilling dance moves on the stage, La Timmy has become an instant admiration of many in the music circles.

Other artists to perform at this year’s Goledzwa are the incredible Team Distant, Dramaboi, Mosako, Eskimos, K-Bos and DT (Dithuso Selepeng).

Following its inception over a decade ago, the festival took a break in 2006 only to be resuscitated in 2011.  The event has been growing in leaps and bounds ever since.
