Mavhondo dumps Eagles

Mavhondo dropped the bombshell on Friday, a day before the team travelled to Maun for a date against Sankoyo Bush Bucks FC.
'It is true that Mavhondo is no longer with us.
He was not fired but just decided not to come to training anymore due to reasons best known to him,' confirmed club chairperson Chimbisani Sechele.
When told that Mavhondo allegedly called it quits citing poor welfare, Sechele said: 'Mavhondo was a volunteer not our coach. He was just helping the team.'
Sechele implied that Eagles were not obliged to take care of Mavhondo's welfare.
He further claimed that Mavhondo did not hold any coaching qualification hence the club was treating him as a mere volunteer.
Mavhondo could not be drawn into discussing the matter. He referred this reporter to Eagles' executive committee for more information.
However, sources close to the Somerset East club revealed that Mavhondo decided to dump Eagles because he was not being paid as per the agreement.
Upon the team's promotion to the First Division North League, sources said Mavhondo was promised an undisclosed monthly salary, transport and housing allowance as well as winning bonuses.
The executive reneged on its promise despite the fact that the coach was producing some good results, sources said.
In its maiden season in the first division, Eagles are among the top four teams halfway through the season.
Mavhondo joined Eagles last season. He managed to steer the club to promotion from the unfashionable Second Division of the Francistown Regional Football Association (FRAFA) to the Debswana-sponsored league.
