BOPSSA publicity secretary Lawrence Moseki told Mmegi Sport that the importance of the meetings is to evaluate third term activities and plan for the first one. He said that there would also be an administrative council meeting.
He said BOPSSA would be hosting the 2014 Confederation Of School Sports Association of Southern Africa (COSSASA) games in Gaborone but could not reveal the dates.
Moseki said the 2014 calendar of BOPSSA calendar of events would kick off with athletics that will end in March. He said the meeting is expected to discuss the Botswana Athletics Youth Games that will be held in May.
He said that BOPSSA games would be used to gauge the readiness of the country ahead of the youth games.
Moseki said BOPSSA intended to deliberate on the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) strategy, which they will align to their 2014 plan. Of late, BOPSSA has five codes under it - netball, volleyball, athletics, cricket and football. BOPSSA is a government-sponsored association that was established to ensure that sports in primary schools is run more effectively. Before BOPSSA was established, Botswana Teachers Union (BTU) was in charge of primary schools sports competitions.
