TASC, Tonota in weekend thriller for third place

FRANCISTOWN: Third-placed Tonota FC and TASC, just one place below, clash in what is expected to be the pick of the Debswana First Division North (FDN) league fixtures at the Donga grounds tomorrow TASC, who recently appointed Zimbabwean coach, Elliot Mavhondo have rarely lost at home this season and last week managed a convincing 2-0 home win against struggling Two-Two-Five. Both TASC and Tonota have accumulated 18 points out of 12 outings, but TASC are behind Tonota because of goal difference. A win by TASC will mean that they will ascend to position three in the league with 21 points. Second from the bottom Great North Tigers (GNT) host eighth-placed rookies Sladden Eagles in Tati Siding tomorrow. Both sides are from Francistown but shortage of suitable venues has forced the match to be moved to Tati Siding. In another encounter tomorrow, Francistown side Amakhosi will hope to redeem their pride following last weekend's humiliating 3-0 loss to Sankoyo Bush Bucks at home.
Amakhosi travel to the tourism town of Maun where they will play third from bottom Maun Tigers who have accumulated 12 points from 12 matches. Sixth-placed Green Lovers will travel from Serowe to Senete where they will play strong relegation candidates Two-Two Five who have managed a paltry eight points out of 11 matches. Two-Two Five are at the bottom of the 12 team league. Two-Two Five and GNT are yet to face each other in their first round match, which explains why the struggling two sides have played a match less than other 10 clubs in the league.   Second-placed Sankoyo Bush Bucks will hope to continue with their form when they play Mahalapye Hotspurs away. Hotspurs have found the going tough in the league following their promotion last season and are fourth from the bottom with 13 points. In the only match billed for Sunday, log leaders BR Highlanders, fresh from the 0-0 draw with Green Lovers, will be home to Palapye Young Stars who are at position seven. The match will be played in Mahalapye. Highlanders currently lead the pack with 25 points from 12 games.
