T
his year started on a miserable note for two Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) bigwigs Mpho Balopi and Kagiso Mmusi, financial wise.
The BDP secretary general Balopi and former deputy treasurer Mmusi appeared on dread 'In the matter between' legal notice in newspapers one after another.  This week the property belonging to Balopi was set to go under the hammer next month. He and his Native Impressions company were listed as defendants by a company named A-SIGN-M. Curiously, a lawyer acting for A-SIGN-M Sadique Kebonang is a former business partners at The Patriot on Sunday newspaper.
This week Balopi and Kebonang told Mmegi that he has settled the matter long time ago.
Likewise, Mmusi's property was supposed to go under the hammer on Tuesday morning at Nkoyaphiri but the auction did not take place. In this matter the plaintiff, African Banking Corporation of Botswana Limited, were granted judgment against Pula Holdings, Mmusi and six other companies. Mmusi is the executive chairperson of Pula Holdings. African Millionaire websites lists Mmusi as one of Africa's millionaires.
Mmusi is the son of the late former vice president Peter Mmusi. Efforts to contact Mmusi were futile at the time of going to press.
