No beMOBILE banners at Francistown Stadium

There is not a single billboard or any form of advertising bearing the league sponsor’s name.  Even the ball boys have been using the Orange bibs instead of the green ones provided by beMOBILE. This is a trend that has been going on since the beginning of the season.

This is different from what one sees in Palapye and further south where during games, the sponsor’s advertising paraphernalia are on display. Ball boys are always clad in the green bibs bearing the league sponsor’s name. Botswana Premier League (BPL) chief executive officer, Bennet Mamelodi, could not be drawn into discussing the matter.

He instead referred all the enquiries to the sponsors. “We are not responsible for the branding. The sponsor is the one responsible for branding so they are in a better position to comment,” Mamelodi responded when reached for a comment yesterday.

BTC corporate communications manager, Golekanye Molapise, said he was not aware that there was no branding during league games in the second city. However, after consultation with other officers Molapise said: “We have new branding materials different from the ones we used in previous seasons.

“The material arrived recently. The problem is that it is yet to be delivered in Francistown because we are yet to train people who will do the branding for us. The old advertising material is aging so it had to be removed.

“I have just learnt that one of our officers will be in Francistown in a week’s time to train some of our staff members about branding during league games using the new materials.  “The new advertising materials are fitted differently from the old ones which is why we are training people to fit it. In short after next week we will probably begin branding,” he said.
