Chiefs Bow Out With Draw

The second leg was an exciting and fiercely contested affair right from the start with Dynamos looking the more dangerous side.
They played as if they are the home team with their supporters outnumbering those of Chiefs in the stands. The first real scoring chance came Chiefs’ way, three minutes into the game. Pontsho Moloi delivered a good cross into the box and found skillful winger, Lemponye Tshireletso waiting to pounce from the far corner.
However, he only managed to hit the side netting. Both sides’ defence did a sterling job in neutralising the dangermen. While Dynamos striker, Washington Pakamisa was closely monitored by his countryman, Arnold Chaka, Chiefs’ goal poacher, Bonolo Fraizer was given little room by De Mbare’s defensive duo, Partson Jaure and Sydney Linyama.
Dynamos took the lead a minute before the break through Ronald Chitiyo, following a good run and delivery from the right by winger, Masimba Mambare. The duo were a constant menace to the Chiefs’ defence. They caused confusion in the Magosi rearguard every time they surged forward. Chitiyo’s goal separated the two sides at halftime.
Early in the second half, Chiefs tried to take the game to Dynamos, removing defensive midfielder, Othusitse Pilane for Lesego Galenamotlhale.
Soon after, a long ball was delivered into De Mbare’s box. Goalkeeper, George Chigova and his defence failed to make a decisive clearance and an unmarked Fraizer found the ball, but ballooned it over the bar. It was after the introduction of striker, Onalethata Tshekiso that Chiefs looked dangerous in attack. At the time, Dynamos were beginning to reduce the tempo of the match, knowing very well that they had taken the game beyond Chiefs’ reach. They kept possession while Chitiyo and Mambare continued to run at Chiefs’ defence every time they got the ball. Tshekiso equalised with 13 minutes remaining with a powerful shot after being set up by Galenamotlhale. Chigova was forced to parry away Galenamotlhale’s long-range shot a few minutes later as the home side pushed for the second goal. Dynamos will now meet AS Vita of Democratic Republic of Congo in the next round, while it is another lesson learnt by Chiefs.
