Conductor escapes jail term

Monei Moilwa who resides in Maruapula appeared before Urban Customary deputy president Patricia Radipati and was charged with public nuisance and received a suspended sentence.

The court learnt that Moilwa who pleaded guilty to the charge, screamed at the public transport drivers who were driving towards the mall’s First National Bank (FNB) stop, warning them of the roadblock on Wednesday afternoon.

Moilwa, a conductor for Tlokweng route four transport was heard screaming to other operators “bonang koo mapodise a kelemile (be careful of the police)”.

The court learnt that, upon hearing Moilwa, the police officers that were on duty approached and apprehended Moilwa for his behaviour.

During his mitigation Moilwa pleaded with the court to be lenient on him as he is the breadwinner in his family. He promised the court that he will never commit that offence again.

When passing the sentence, Radipati warned him not to repeat the same crime for a year, as failure to comply with the sentence would put him behind bars.
