Tafic Get Relief Win

The encounter was also marred by controversy, as two Satmos officials were red carded for using foul language towards the referee in the second half. Goalkeeper, Kagiso Tshelametsi was also shown a red card for lack of decency immediately after the final whistle.

It was Satmos who first threatened the hosts 18 minutes into play when deadly striker, Patrick Kaunda’s low shot from close range was blocked by an alert TAFIC goalkeeper, Abedinico Morapedi.

With 22 minutes into play TAFIC’s striker Holiness Mlilo would squander a glorious opportunity after receiving a telling pass from the right. The striker sent his shot wide with the keeper the only man to beat.

Moments later Kaunda who is the league leading goal scorer would hit the upper left post with a long range shot, with the goalkeeper Morapedi well beaten.

A minute from the break TAFIC striker Mathew Tendai Nyamadzawo missed what could be termed one of the best opportunities in the match. The striker failed to connect quickly with a loose ball after a melee in the box, which allowed defender Mpoeleng Mpoeleng to recover and clear the danger.

In the 45th minute, Mlilo would again waste a glorious opportunity. The unmarked player inside the box failed to connect with a neat cross from the left wing. TAFIC found the back of the net ten minutes after the break when right winger Kabo Ogolotse who was given the nod ahead of regular Witness Livingstone beat Tshelametsi from close range after picking a loose ball in the goal area.

After the goal TAFIC resorted to defending which gave the visitors room to enjoy a large chunk of possession.

Satmos could have found the decisive equaliser in the 59th minute, but TAFIC goalie Morapedi blocked striker Mokuye Shakambala’s close low range shot after the latter received a cross from left. Satmos’s equaliser came in the 65 minute when midfielder Mcgini Sibanda’s beautiful curling shot from right found the upper right corner. TAFIC goalkeeper appeared to have miscalculated the ball thinking it was off target.

After the goal, both side began attacking each other constantly and creating opportunities, however it was TAFIC who were lucky to get the winner in the 88th minute through a penalty after one of Satmos defenders was adjudged to have handled in the box.

TAFIC defender Chakazha Pharo stepped in and converted from the resultant penalty to give TAFIC the much needed victory.

Tshelametsi was given his marching orders for lack of decency immediately after the final whistle. The win has however done little to improve TAFIC’s fortunes as the club is still languishing at the bottom of the league table with 18 points from 22 matches played so far.
