Mosako rose to fame with hits like Back to lala, Mogara and Onketsang. He recently revealed to Showbiz that he had to call off the deal he had with Shota recording label in SA because he felt the contract was below his standards.
“I deserve to be offered something big, when I saw the contract that they had drawn up for me I was not impressed with a lot of things, so I made a few changes and sent it back, but funny enough they never got back to me after that,” he said.
He added that he feels as artists one must not sell themselves short if they want to be taken seriously. He said, “I understand it is a big deal to be signed under a record label in SA, but I am not going to settle for less and besides, I feel I made the best decision of staying home as I have now made a hot album.”
Speaking about his album which is about to hit stores before the end of summer, Mosako mentioned that he decided to name the album Mma moratwa which he explains is a name he got from his fans.
“I think my fans got this name from my famous song Onketsang because as soon as I released it, people started calling me Mosako mma moratwa because there is a verse on the song that talks about mma moratwa,” he said.
He further mentioned that people are yet to be amazed by this album as it reflects his maturity. He said the album is the grown up version of the previous one.
“I was trying to explore new sounds and most of the songs in it tell a story of what I am all about and all the experiences I have gone through, be it negative or positive. Fans will find songs that talk about my court experiences because I know everyone had a saying on it,” he said.
He said he decided to feature Zambian artists, as he wanted to show diversity and growth. He added that he realised that a fusion of different cultures and languages always make a hit song.
“I have featured General Ozi who is famous for the song Potential and Roberto, but I have also featured some local artists including the likes of SCAR, Samba T, Foster Juliana while from SA Thabile Mazolwane,” he said.
So far the album has hits like Wena o mang wena and Home coming that he mentioned that were his build up singles to the release of this album.
“This is a must have album because I have put a great deal of my time to try perfect it. I did not rush through it and for the first time I am able to listen to my songs which is something I never did in the past,” he said.
Mosako concluded that the album would be released from his newly registered company S.L.R (Sego Lee Rakobe) music and productions.
